First and foremost, we need to change our methods of international intervention and be a better neighbor to Latin America.

Secondly, we need to treat employers that hire undocumented immigrants with the same fervor we go after the immigrants... after all, this is wage theft from American workers.

  1. Calculate how much tax money will be needed to fully fund Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  2. Calculate the total population needed to provide that tax income.
  3. Subtract the workforce as it will exist from that number.
  4. That is the number of immigrants needed in the US. (Or higher taxes are needed.)
  5. Increase the number of legal immigration to match.
  6. Streamline the immigration process so it can be completed mostly online.

Simplify overhead and make sure whatever paperwork needs to be done is done by employers and whatnot.

Don't care where your workers are from or where they live, as long as they pay their dues and whatnot properly and there's no abuses of the workplace.

Visibility and exposure curbs problems. But that's the sort of thing that gets people screaming about small businesses (e.g. the sort to let this slide) and government overreach (e.g. we don't want to tell people we're shortchanging our workers with threat of deportation)

It's not really a problem.

Making immigration easier would be a start.

If Republicans really wanted to end undocumented immigrants from being employed, in-prison a few executives/managers that employ them.

Not a liberal, but:

1) close the border. Below Mexico.

the us Mexico border is HUGE. The border between Mexico and Guatemala/Belice is tiny. If you want to stop immigration, do it there.

2) find out who is convincing Central Americans to come to the US.

its odd how they come by the million when there is a Democrat in power or there are gonna be elections. When a Republican wins, they suddenly stop. Weird, huh?

my bet is that some GOP operative makes it happen.

3) take the racism out of the immigration debate

lets just face it, the GOP made it about race

4) make it easier to come here legally

If the oversaturation is the problem, the immigrants need to face less punishment than the companies that hire them. IE, if companies keep paying people under the table, then they should have to give them VISAs etc.

How are you going to patrol the border of another country?

However, the "problem" is vastly blown out of proportion for political gain. The reason they always seem to pop up around election time is because it's a convenience boogyman to scare voters into voting red. There's no horde of dirty migrants, they only exist in the headlines of right wing media.

People come here for jobs. If rich assholes who depend on slave labor wouldnt hire them, far fewer would come up.

I live in the Midwest and all the meat packing plants are owned by republican donors who send recruiters to Mexico to get illegal workers.

They dont actually want to solve the problem, this country relies on slave labor.

The main obstacle in my opinion aside from the cost is housing.

The market is bad enough as is and a massive influx of new arrivals from now on won't help in that regard.

Especially when the only places with the infrastructure to help them is saturated in just a small number of places in the country.

  • Guarantee that every American has access to housing, food, and health care at the expense of corporations and the ultra wealthy
  • Guarantee free college education to every American
  • Pass legislation that protects unions/workers from employer exploitation
  • Make sure our border agents and employees aren't violent rapists that abuse migrants
  • Build infrastructure and hire workers that can process the current level of immigration
  • Make the immigration process streamlined with less red tape, creating a path to citizenship where migrants can then enjoy access to housing, food, and health care at the expense of corporations and the ultra wealthy as well as a protected union job
  • Immigrants who then wish to further their education can enjoy free access to college like any American citizen.
