From the ice age page on Wikipedia:
The amount of anthropogenic greenhouse gases emitted into Earth's oceans and atmosphere is projected to delay the next glacial period, which otherwise would begin in around 50,000 years, by between 100,000 and 500,000 years.

A century-and-a-half of industrialization has had the effect of postponing a natural and cyclic process by up to x10 the amount of time it would have normally occurred. I can't imagine how much worse it'll get since the guys at the top clearly have no intention of stopping.

It's very obvious that the climate has changed within our lifetimes, which would be pretty impossible to happen naturally.

Elon Musk is poised to find the next Earth soon, so we'll all just move there if this planet becomes uninhabitable

Will Elon be king in this new planet? I don't want to live there, if not. I'd rather die here where billionaires rule the world. I do not respect anyone but billionaires, everyone else is basically worthless.

Perhaps this was our destiny. Not to help maintain a healthy, livable environment for our species (ironically for even more suffering), but to leave a legacy of death, destruction and misery. This is the human species, and it's always been this way.

I don't think it's necessarily exclusive to humans. I think it's just the natural consequence of becoming an advanced civilization. The only way to not screw up the planet is to live in harmony with nature like the natives did.

Absolutely. Humans aren't uniquely cruel or selfish. This is just how all life is.

Not doubt if another species evolved to be as intelligent and dexterous as humans they would've taken a similar path as us.

Other goldilocks-zone planets are rare AF and the best *maybe* candidate we've found so far is far enough away that none of our children, children's children, or children's children's children would live long enough to make the trip there (even if we could build something capable of making the trip successfully, which we currently are not. And if it doesn't get fucked over by cosmic mishap en-route, which is more than probable)

humanity does not have the means to go elsewhere even if there were an elsewhere to go to. Folks should probably realize this sooner rather than later

This is why I think we've never been visited by aliens. I think any society will burn itself out long before before it unlocks the knowledge necessary to travel such distances. Sad, really.
