I think they probably wanted it to be good but couldn't get the greenlight without a GAAS and heavy microtransaction model.

I'm not gonna play it ever probably so can someone spoiler tag wtf is happening with Batman and his death that was in the trailer?

You say that like being slated for GamePass is some kind of death sentence lol. It was likely always slated for GamePass at a later date. It's only the Microsoft games that go there Day 1.

Batman is ambushed in the Batcave by Ra's al Ghul and is mortally wounded. With no way to win, Batman seals himself and Ra's in the Batcave and initiates the self-destruct protocol, killing them both.

At the end of the game, it is revealed that Talia had stolen Bruce's body and revived him in a Lazarus Pit, using its powers to brainwash him into becoming the League of Shadow's next leader.
They manage to free him from the brainwashing with the power of friendship.
Then the Court of Owls appears, claiming ownership of the Lazarus Pit, so Batman sacrifies himself by crashing the Batwing into it, destroying it.
So it is basically "we killed him but we might revive him again in a sequel".

well they did throw money at Sega to have the yakuza gaiden and a few persona games day one.

I don't recall hearing about it being a future addition until it was announced pretty recently. There are a couple sites that have a "TBD, 2024 and beyond" kind of upcoming list for the service and I don't remember seeing it on those either.
