Water is basically the only thing I drink these days, but I used to love apple juice at room temperature. But also, I'll drink just about anything at room temperature. But I especially loved apple juice at room temperature.

I disagree. I keep my water in the fridge and vastly prefer it cold vs room temp.

The best drinks at room temperature are alcoholic drinks. Whether it be rum or scotch or whatever.

If I'm waking up in the middle of the night parched, it's probably because I'm hot/I've been sweating, and so that cold water high is amazing. Room temperature water in that scenario feels like I'd just rather not have water at all.

I prefer room temperature water just because I got too lazy to chill my bottles. I got used to it and now appreciate that I can chug an entire glass in one go. I cant do that with ice water, way too cold for my dainty throat.

I don't get how you could even compare room temp water to cold water.

I mostly only drink water when I'm at work, but I've had a few jobs where I do physical labour and get hot and sweaty. Chugging back a cold bottle of water is fucking glorious.

Water is supposed to taste best cold. I was told it has something to do with evolution. We evolved to like cold water because it's more likely to be safe to drink. Warmer water is more likely to have bad stuff in it to make us sick

I have a really hard time drinking cold water, even when it's really hot out. My friend turned green when I opened a bottle of water that was in his car for 6 hours on a 100+ F day and that was honestly more enjoyable than drinking cold water for me.

That kinda proves my point, though. The actual appealing aspect isn't the water itself, the appealing aspect is not getting out of bed. Your most desired aspect, first and foremost, is the "don't want to get out of bed" aspect. Thus, it doesn't really matter how the water is, it's secondary.

EDIT: Like, let me put it this way. If you could, magically, have cold/chilled water at your bedside, no matter what time of night, how long it's been sitting there, etc., would you reject it, in favor of room temperature water?

Nooo, the water is important. One time I tried Gatorade and it wasnt nearly as satisfying. Water is critical. Staying in bed so I dont wake up more is secondary.

Good question. Now that I think about it, I have a coffee thing thatll probably keep
my water cold overnight. Ill load it up with ice and water and see how it goes if I wake up in the middle of the night. Will report back in the morning.
