Not a surprise. Academic publishing is a ticking time bomb. Most publications are so hyper-specific to meet trnure requirements that they are useless to all but a handful of people.

Yeah publishing / scientific research is a hyper-competitive field. I'd be more worried if the quality of research would diminish like the tweet posits, though I can imagine that being pretty hard to measure.

It's not really possible to do science well at the rates expected of scientists. We need to do work slower.
