Jack Kirby got a raw deal and Lee took way too much credit for Kirby's work. Jack Kirby went out of his way to avoid press. Seems like it's what he wanted. This isn't like Batman.

I don't know if it was done out of malicious intent or not. But yes, Stan Lee did take more credit than he deserved. Casuals always thought he single handedly invented the entire Marvel Universe. He often is given credit for characters he didn't even create ... Copied to Clipboard!

It's pretty well-known among Jack Kirby fans that Stan Lee tended to take Kirby's work and warp it into things it wasn't meant to be. Not to mention the whole rights fiasco (including royalties) which was only properly resolved shortly after the MCU movies started making bank with a bunch of Jack Kirby's characters starring in them.
