There's somebody who I have a shallow friendship with. I have genuinely tried to get him a job where I work and put in my time and effort to help him find a job as well. I've had lunch with him several times (that he always ask
s). But now he asks me like twice a month and I can't be bothered. He is boring to talk to in person. He talks about videogames I couldn't care less about. Why would he think I would care? He is on the spectrum too, but high functioning.

I just can't end it. Sigh.

I don't think he thinks you care. I don't think he cares if you care. You're just someone who listens.

I've been fake with all my friends. People always say I'm a good listener! I'll listen but I really don't care. I don't make friends anymore though, too much of a bother.

Maybe I'm not a fake friend? Cause a fake friend wouldn't care about how you feel, wouldn't feel happy for you, and would talk behind your back.

I have bended over backwards for him to help him find a job and I have listened to him. I just don't go out of my way to really text him, at least not anymore. Unless it's game related.

If you want to end it without being like I dont want to be your friend anymore just stop texting him first if you ever do, start turning down all the invites, then just ignore them if he doesnt get the picture. This is if you really dont care about him at all.

if you care a little but want to try to dial it down, maybe say something like hey Im going to be a little more busy lately so I wont be able to hang as much. Im hoping we can still link up every couple months or so! And maybe just answer him if he texts you but dont really reach out yourself
