Black ranger ~~loses his arm~~ and five minutes later his sister is saying "but he ~~needs two arms to play the guitar~~" with all the tragic intensity of someone who had to stay home from a class pizza party. It's not even just an acting thing. Show's always had amateur acting but it feels like they're just cramming in a bunch of random dramatic-sounding plot points just to raise the stakes. But it all happens so fast and with so little substance I just can't bring myself to care. Same with they way the monster sprayed evil cum to ~~brainwash the blue ranger~~. Like, ~~capturing the Jobbin' Masters, disappearing Zayto, reviving Zedd, disarming Javi, and pointing an alien invasion at earth~~ wasn't enough. "Hey, um...let's ~~make one of the rangers evil,~~ I guess." If this does end up being the end of "classic" Power Rangers, I'd say it went out on a high note. Not being constrained to Sentai footage let them do a lot of fun things, though the Zord footage was absolutely wasted. Feels like they only even bothered with the Zords so there'd be a new giant robot to sell, the writing tried its hardest to avoid any mech action sequences lol. The final battle was also a bit understated, but worked for what it was trying to do.
