He was found guilty in May of 2023 and was supposed to to be sentenced lsat month. He was being held in jail originally. I believe a judge let him out on house arrest because he had complaints about his inability to get healthcare treatments in jail. Then he just went missing. I doubt it, so much of our current set of laws takes for granted that the President isn't a bad actor. However, the Secret Service detail works for the federal government via the Department of Homeland Security. Which reports to the president (the current one). Skipping bail wouldnt have just made my charges worse but also cost her a lot of money. Thats a decent deterrent for anyone less than a sociopath. Skipping bail doesnt just cost yourself.
