Absolutely does. Game aged terribly. I recently played FFV and it turns out that it plays a lot better than FF6 does.

Yet, FFT got a remake.

They already did make a remake. That was the phone version.

The reason that they don't make a big budget remake is because FFVI sells like crap when it's not bundled with ALttP so it's not commercially viable.

Nobody is itching for a 6 remake.

7 got a remake because it was a lot of people's first "Babby's first FF" since it was the first in 3D, and then since it was the first in 3D, it noticeably looked... Very, very dated, with the Lego models and all that.

People who list 6 as their favorite/one of them typically already like how 6 looks, and aren't particularly itching for a remake, so there's not much of a market for it, since it looks fine, already.

The only thing stopping the FF8 remake is they are working on 7 right now. I have a strong belief that after the 7 remake is done, they will start 8 remake

FF7 was always going to be their cash cow. The remake is just an aspect of the compilation - another milking of the teat.

No guarantee other games will receive the same treatment.

FF4 was particularly popular in Japan, and was a developer favorite amongst the staff.

I don't think this is true. It sold over a million copies, even despite coming out at a rather un-noteworthy time.

I think the truth is just that FF4 3D was a bit of a passion project, whereas they never had any intention to remake 5 or 6.

Id also suggest that FF4 didnt age as well as 5 and 6 as far as boss complexity goes. Everything is handled pretty much the same way (Cecil, Kain and Edge attack, Rosa heals everyone, Rydia summons unless the boss counters summons, else uses a high level spell).

FF5 and 6 have lot more complexity - the former especially.

And that's part of the problem. It doesn't help that each character plays virtually the same as well. People excuse the protagonist issue with "it's an ensemble!" but the thing about ensembles is that they are supposed to stand out individually as well. Each character in FF6 is only relevant for just a small amount and then becomes soulless. If FF6 came out today, I wouldn't be convinced WoR's script wasn't written by an AI.

FFV is so much better from both a gameplay and plot standpoint. I can't believe I used to rank it so low. It definitely aged the best out of the 2D Final Fantasies.

They'd have to make something cool like Umaro in 3D.

He's not wrong as far as final fantasy games go. It's a good game but I wouldn't put it on a top 5 favorites list of final fantasy games.

I'd rank it about the same as 5 but for opposing reasons. 5 was more fun to play due to the job system. 6 had a much better story (5s story was eh)

I really think they should, in fact I've had a great idea for some general story updates they should make for a modern audience.

FF6 Spoilers probably!

The game starts out as it does in the OG, more or less. However, when Locke meets Terra, he notices something. She seems to already know who he is, like they've met before. He dismisses it and they go on their adventure to Figaro.

On the way to Figaro, Locke starts experiencing visions of Kefka, but he doesn't know who Kefka is yet (that's important). This "Dream Kefka" delivers cryptic messages about a future of "ruin" and taunts Locke saying that he's going to "fail". Of course he doesn't know what to make of it so the story continues.

Later, when the gang meets the real Kefka in Figaro, Locke recognizes him now and tries to confront him about the dream he had. Suddenly some unknown entities appear called "Echoes" and they drag Locke and co. away, prompting Kefka to freak out and start burning the castle down as usual. The story continues as normal and Locke, Terra and Edgar are riding on their Chocobos away from the sinking castle. They stop and discuss the events that have occurred because something eerie is "clearly" going on.

That's all I wanna say about my ideas so far but I really hope something like this gets implemented in a potential FF6 Remake because it will keep us guessing. It would be really fresh :)

Don't know. But I don't see how remaking games has value, unless you're one of these dumbasses who think newer equals better, or love homogenization. The last thing SNES games need is to look and play like something else.

If you like a game, you should be asking for high quality ports, not for it to be vandalized.
