That is odd character to bring for a show. Any time I hear that name I think of the SNL skit with a character named Wonder Man. Nevertheless, I hope that have Tigra the show.

I didn't know he was Black Manta. He does not get the love he should as a villain . He is the main Villain to freaking Aquaman a super powerful king and Superhero. He goes toe to toe with him. He is like Lex and Mongul in one villain.

Black Manta has some things going against him, imo.

He has all kinds of cool gadgets and weapons, but decades into their fight he still INSISTS on wearing that stupid fucking helmet.

The dude has artificial gills. That helmet he wears isn't intimidating, lol. He doesn't need it to strike fear in the ocean.

Speaking of the fear factor: What has he actually done, anyway? Where is Manta during Crisis events, etc.?

To me, Black Manta even today is just a bit too silly of a villain that reminds me of a simpler time in comic books. And comic books have changed a fair bit since the Silver Age. And Black Manta is part of the reason that Aquaman has to desperately tread water (heh) to play third fiddle to Wonder Woman and Green Lantern (forget about the rest of the Superfriends).

Okay, going over it again, you are correct. Hard to argue with laser beam eyes. It still kind of looks dumb, lol. But, the movie did a great job of explaining why it needed to be so damn big.

I am also still genuinely curious if we got some Aquaman fans who can fill me in. Or should I consult a wiki?
