Cheats page sometimes, not really guides

although sometimes maps are in the guides page, also game scripts / translation FAQs I've used in recent years

If I run into an issue on a game I search that specific issue in Google and click the first or second thing that pops up. And thats never Gamefaqs.

Long gone are the days where I follow a walkthrough. Video or text.

Most new games don't have guides... At least when I've looked.

I'll use the boards or Wikia if nothing pops.

If it has a guide (frequently does not), sure. But, I do look stuff up on the message boards a fair bit.

No, I don't cheat at videogames.

I don't think I've played a game that required a "guide" in many, many years.

If I'm playing a newly released game where I have questions about either game mechanics or ingame secrets, it's likely that no one else at that time knows either, so the discovery and exploration topics take place on the boards. And that's usually the only time that I tolerate using boards for new games, because most topics are just trolling and shitposting until the game is a few years old and those people move on to newer game boards.

I regularly use gamefaqs for specific questions though.

Useful for the Like a Dragon/Yakuza/Judgment series.

Only for games where I'd want specifically a written guide, and gamefaqs sounds like a better option than finding a wiki. That's not terribly often, but it does happen once in a great while.
