Toho were quick to disown the 1998 Godzilla movie. In the 2001 movie, Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, a professor states that New York was attacked by a monster that was mistaken for Godzilla. Later, the creature's name was officially shortened to Zilla and he was given a middle finger salute in Final Wars.

What if DC had a multiverse movie where they stated that, even in the context of the Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher universe, the blue Batman with a bat credit card was an impostor Batman? This was a Batman cloned from Bruce Wayne's DNA and an unspecified substance which altered his general behavior? He had no idea that he wasn't the real Batman. After all, there have been clone Batman / impostor Batman stories before.

Would it be seen as extremely petty? Would it be cathartic to know that the George Clooney Batman is not canon even in a multiverse? How would you feel?

Obviously, Clooney himself would never return to play the role. But that doesn't mean that they couldn't get an actor to pass for an older version of that (not)Batman or to mention that he died several years ago.

But he has! The mad lad's already done it! He played Bruce Wayne at the end of that Flash movie.
