There's virtually no advantage Bethesda has anymore in RPG market with their outdated engine. Loading screens in 2023, engine that can't include any functionable vehicles, animations where NPCs need slide into place and the player cant even pick up objects with their hands...

All these plus 30+ fps lag.

Good luck to anyone looking forward to TES6. It'd be just a re-skin of Skyrim with more fun loading screens as you enter into copy+paste dungeons

I love both games.

No, not every game needs to be the same. I don't want to play a character made by myself in every game.

Despite sharing some similarities, Skyrim and The Witcher 3 are different games. Both have their pros and cons and it depends on personal preference what each one of us prefers (or like in my case, love both styles).

Some stories are better told with pre-made characters, who have specific backstories and relationships with other characters (friends, foes and others). You can't replicate such stories the same way with characters you make on your own.

I like playing characters that I've made myself in the character creation. And I like to roleplay with different kind of builds in certain games (like Fallout and Skyrim). But I also see the advantages of pre-made characters and can enjoy such stories at least as much, if not even more if the story is very good (which is the case in The Witcher 3).

Despite the superficial similarities (first person and open world) they're two very different games trying to achieve very different things.

The sheer vitriol that Bethesda inspires from some is puzzling to me, I will admit tho lol

I'd rather play a defined character/personality that can change their hairstyle and clothes than a fully customized character that's given a bland personality to facilitate customization.

I don't want Witcher 4 to have character creation though. I want to play as a predefined Witcher.

The Witcher 3 is closer to Assassins Creed than it is to Skyrim. They're very different games. The Witcher with a character creator would not be a substitute for Elder Scrolls games.

What if we have both?
Premade characters with character customization as extensive as character creation?

I would like to be able to create my own Witcher in 4. Could use some actual diversity this time.

True, could go the Mass Effect route with Shepard.

The Witcher with character creation/customization is just Fable lol

Not that I'm complaining, Fable II is one of my favorite games ever but still

To be fair, Obsidian don't make that style of game, outside of New Vegas.

Even Outerworlds isn't really a good example or take on it imo, as clearly going for something else.

Yeah, personally I'm glad they are focusing on what they do well.

I do think NV is the best fallout, but it worked on a large Bethesda base already.

Do hope someone challenges them though, as they desperately need it as so much starfield lacks or doesn't see through properly for no reason.

It could be an utterly fantastic game if they just... followed through with ideas.

We ain't playing as Geralt no more in Witcher 4, dude. This is pretty much confirmed

Might as well have character creation but the character obviously has a pre-set story, like in Cyberpunk. Like... what's the point in NOT having it?? It's not like the new character CDPR introduces is someone anyone would know. Having customisation is just an option to have players get to choose how the character looks like. CDPR can still tell whatever main story they want with the character.

Not everyone likes playing as a grey-beard rusty voiced man all the time, yknow?
