My uncle is a lead nutritionist at Purina and he laughs at all this shit. They do have a line for it but most pets do fine with traditional stuff.

Had an old dog and it was easier on his tummy for the last year or two of his life. He had trouble keeping down other stuff

Hmmm I guess I never thought of this stuff. Damn that must have been expensive but nice and deserving for a pet at the end of their life

He wasn't nearly as active at the end so he ate a lot less. It was definitely more expensive, but that helped hedge it down a lot

I'm not opposed to refrigerated food, just the ridiculous "be like your wild ancestors" shit. The quality control and nutritional value can be awful.

ya I was gonna say it really depends on the pet and situation.

Also nutritions. Best way Ive heard it described is kibbles are like junk/fast food that tastes great but isnt healthy for pets, whereas the frozen/wet food you make fresh is better on the digestive tract and gives them a better chance for long term health

I dont understand it either. I feed my dog steaks, jasmine rice, and sweet potato mostly, all freshly prepared daily. But I still dont understand people who spoil their dogs. Because Im not one of them

What I really don't understand are people who cook specifically for their pets. Why are you wasting time and energy on something literally no animal on the planet needs?

My dog eats half a can of food in the morning and half at night so I refrigerate it after opening it... My dog has a sensitive tummy and her wet food has been helpful for her...

My dog had a recent stint of not being able to hold food down so we had to do a basic diet.

So I looked at what the reformated stuff had and made the equivalent out of the 'human' stuff for half the price

Purina uses food waste contaminated with chemicals in their dog food.

My cats have been on raw for many, many years. It definitely seems to keep keep them healthy, and their coats are always very clean and shiny. Another plus is that poop is always usually minimal, and they rarely have any issues with mushy or loose poop.

I think they hate it though. Its so nutrient dense that it gives them what they need but not more filler. So they are always hungry and pestering me for food. If I up their intake though, it doesnt take much for them to start gaining weight.
