It is. Honestly Mr Satan is the better name. Hercule just makes me think of Father Brown. The name is dumb. Even by American standards

FUNimation dubbed both names. The DVDs use Mr Satan but the version I watched on weekday mornings before school used Hercule. I guess they anticipated that some channels wouldn't want to use the former, so they provided an alternative.

Man, back in the 90's there was a similar article in my country, but with Saint Seiya instead of Dragon Ball. And it resulted in the pulling a lot of anime off the air, and their merchandise too.

Yeah there was a lot of controversy over a lot of the big anime back in the 90's and early 00's.

DBZ for it's violence.
Sailor Moon for Serena.
InuYasha for the blood and swearing and so on.

Not sure about the US, but in Canada outside of Pokmon and Digimon most anime was considered late night programming and was often rated 14+ when dubbed.

I remember when I turned 10 my mom started letting me stay up later to watch part of the late night block (Shout out Bionix) and it was a big deal for me. Had to go to bed at 10 because I wasn't allowed to watch Ghost in the Shell because it was "too much".

Other than Saturday morning WB or Fox's animated block, most anime stuff came from Toonami in the US at like 7 PMish iirc.

Telemundo did have DBZ after school tho and that shit ruled.

Sailor Moon was like 3 or 4 PM and I watched most of it starting in like 4th grade.

I keep meaning to try and rewatch it, it's all up on Hulu.

Maybe it depended on where you lived but for me it was three to five on weekdays. It was after school and for kids. The later years Saturday only toonami may have been later.

Every weekday afternoon on Time Warner Inc.'s Cartoon Network , characters age , die and get vaporized -suffering far worse fates than Wile E. Coyote ever did.

Yes, we really have to protect kids from the knowledge that over time they will get older. Their fragile young minds couldn't handle it. Oh shit, I said young, abort abort.. oh shit I said abort. Man, nurturing fucking children is difficult shit.

Did the boomers complaining about kids being soft and coddled today complain about the boomers raging at Batman Returns being "too dark" and Power Rangers and DBZ being "violent" years ago?

Funny tho, in early 90's Japan also complained about American violence affecting their kids.
Like in the tragedy of Junko Furuta people claimed the kids are influenced by Americans movies.
