Nah I love me some hype. The feeling you get when you are excited about something and it exceeds your expectations is like, top 5 reasons to be alive.

Getting hyped about video games only leads to disappointment. It's way easier to step back from the pre-release marketing promotion material than it is to listen to some dev or read some article just to be disappointed by all the bullshit they were feeding you.

Yeah tbh it's better not to get hyped. That said there's no harm in it either as long as you keep your disappointment in check. People who get hyped then turn around and attack the thing they were hyped for when it doesn't measure up, I'll never understand.

I guess I had this coming but still.

I get hyped for stuff I know is gonna be good or Im gonna be happy with. If Im kinda clueless about the thing, or say its like a reboot or rerelease of something I like, or even sports games sometimes, I try to go in as neutral as possible so if its not good then nothing changes with me.

If you get excited about everything then more often than not youll be disappointed and that just doesnt seem fun to me.

I don't care what other people think, if I wanna be excited about somethin' i'm damn well being excited for it.

I was basically hyped like I was a damn teenager again when Armored Core 6 first got announced and did not hide it.

i get hyped by a few things a year and sometimes im let down but that is ok

The optimist in me wants to argue against this but the reality is, majority of things that I have been super hyped for have fallen flat and have been pretty bad. If we are just talking video games, I think my favorite video games have mostly been the "eh...I guess I'll try this one out" ones that turn out super amazing.

I only get hype for things that have a good track record IMO.

Stuff like Bethesda, nope. Stuff like Blizzard, absolutely not. Any particular big game on the horizon, most likely not. Only games that have the history to back them up

also what's the problem with being disapointed? it's better then being engeative and acting like everything is going to suck and being afraid of being happy

you can be a realist and still get hyped about things. you just need to know when to stop dreaming and letting your imagination go wild, and think about things in a logical way. doesn't make the hype any less grand, you just set yourself up for less disappointment.

The last game I was hyped about was Brave Dungeon: The Meaning of Justice, and that was delayed four years and then released at a dumb price.
Six months later, I picked it up at half price, and it was merely okay.
