I think Musk is an ass who knows very little about this stuff and overhypes it to ridiculous levels. But the implant's technology is solid, probably will be helpful for paraplegics. Not leaps and bounds above other technology, but an incrimental improvement.

These types of implants aren't particularly new in human testing.

I don't think that's accurate about the monkeys.

I think most of the criticism of neuralink for animal welfare stuff is mostly just negative fluff. It's easy since most people are against any invasive animal research on primates. Or in general.

I don't think there will ever be a time where brain implants will be used nonclinically. It's just far too invasive.
