anyone else here feel like they never finish a game? i make it pretty far but then see some shiny new thing and switch to that

stuff in recent memory i played for more than 10-20 hours but "haven't finished" (which surely for many of these means "will never finish")...

ff16 - got 4 eikons, haven't played in over a month, will probably go back to it one day
xenoblade chronicles 3 - think i'm in chapter 6 out of 7, hit some "go collect all the macguffins" main quest
diablo 4 - i know you "never finish" or whatever, but i didn't finish the campaign
pokemon violet - i think i beat the elite four and ate all the magic sandwiches but didn't finish team star
octopath traveler 2 - beat ochette's story but haven't done anyone else's finale
elden ring - god knows but i played it for 40 hours
ff7r - got to wall market
tales of arise - got 6 party members
ff5 - got to the second world
fire emblem engage - chapter 18 or so
13 sentinels - 40% or so

is that too many? is the payoff at the end of games worth it?

if i play for like, 3 hours, i'm gonna beat it
90% of games i download i do not

it's not the end it's knowing everything that happens in that world!

Once I have a significant amount of time invested, it's very likely that I'm enjoying the game enough to finish it. There are certainly recent examples where I did that and didn't finish (Dishonored comes to mind), but they're quite rare.

I can see quitting all these games except FF7R and 13 Sentinels. For 7R, Wall Market is one of the highlights of the game, so you should at least finish that. 13 Sentinels probably has a lot of great twists left to reveal, too.

When I quit a game I'll generally at least watch the remainder on Youtube to see the rest of the story.

I finish maybe 20% of games I've played under 2 hours. But if I've played more than that I'm 90% of the time gonna finish. I might rush the ending if I'm impatient but still.

I'm getting better at finishing games the last few years (especially with streaming) but boy howdy does it take me a long time
