The movie is hilarious. I love that it mocks social progress but at the same time empowers it. It is very honest and self-aware. I love the theme of acknowledging and finding self-worth, finding genuine balance in life, accepting that things are unpredictable and uncontrollable and that even if humans can die; ideas are bullet proof. Gotta give it to Mattel for letting themselves get portrayed as the generic evil scummy greedy corporation that almost all corporations are.

I like it just because it's so weird. The discourse around it is quite annoying though.

It definitely was very heavy handed/in your face with its messaging, but I was fine with it because I agree with it. A lot of people were saying it's a movie of being anti-patriarchy and pro-matriarchy and the only thing I have to say is that we clearly were watching the same movie because it also criticizes matriarchy as well, just very subtly.

Overall, the movie was a lot of fun and I was surprised how much I laughed, Ryan Gosling fucking killed it as Ken. The only parts in the movie I didn't enjoy was Will Ferrell antics because it got old very quickly.

Maybe my memory isn't as good as I remembered it. Need to rewatch it again, but I'll just assume you're right.

I liked the movie too. I wish they would have hammered home the point of equality a bit more with making their new government more equitable for all from the get go.

It's alright, though. They went for a more humorous take mirroring the experience woman have had here to get into power for the Kens.

That scene with Barbie and the older lady at the bus stop was beautiful.

I think the message they were tryna portray was "It's not perfect but we're trying to get better", mirroring the real world. I think this movie would be great for people who has pessimistic traits.

Lol. Pretty sure my fiance loved me more after the movie. She loved that I was willing to wear a hot pink shirt to the movie.

Oh yeah the soundtrack is fire as well.

Ironically Ryan gosling was the best part

I heard this was suppose to be the new tiktok trend, because I heard it from my niece, but I don't know any of my female friends who actually broke up with their BF after watching the movie.

I went straight to the movie theater after work and I totally forgot to wear my pink polo shirt. Let's just say it was the first time in my life I stood out like a sore thumb while wearing a black polo shirt lol.

I thought the first half was awesome, I loved the way it was a satire. Ken discovering the patriarchy was hilarious while also making social points through humor at the same time.

The second half I thought it got too on-the-nose and straightforward and lost its nuance. And in the end the messaging was weird, since you'd think the message would be for equality (both the male-dominated and female-dominated societies had problems) but in the end they don't make a strong push for it with the joke about the females still dominating like the real world. I get they were probably trying to make a joke about how the real world isn't yet equal either but it fell a little flat for me since it sort of walks back the fact that the barbie society was also flawed in how it subjugated the men.

Good movie, think it was a good 20 minutes too long though. But yah overall it was good and I hope it comes to streaming somewhat soon.

There have been so many dudes at work that were mad about the movie

One guy was complaining about the part where the Barbies all bait the Kens into fighting so they don't vote, and he was all like "I disliked the message that it's ok to play with men's emotions". And another dude was complaining that Barbie and Ken don't get together at the end.

I wonder if a lot of people didn't "get" the movie.
