...they have to explain the same thing to a student like 5 times or more? Like for example a geometry teacher who gets pissed off at a student who still doesn't understand the concept after like 7 times of explaining it? You had stuff like this happen during your school days

No. It's their job to do so and they knew what they signed up for. If the student is paying attention, yet doesn't understand it, it's the teacher's job to find a way for them to do so.

No. Im a teacher, and I know it takes at least 17 exposures for a new idea to stick. Often more.

No, because I oftentimes was that kid, at least when it came to math. If the teacher has a problem with this, they either shouldn't be teaching at all or maybe should be teaching a different subject than the one they are.

I think they test teachers for patience before hiring them.

Not at all, it's literally their job to adapt and personalize the experience. If they just want to read a lesson plan and not make a single stop they can be replaced by a YouTube video.

Would I get annoyed? Fuck yes. That's why I couldn't be a teacher, and I'm one of those that it takes a time or three for me to understand something.

Should teachers? No. They are supposed to be patient and find new ways to explain things to people who aren't getting it.

get real upset with people asking questions? no, usually it was the other kids who got annoyed

the only times I ever saw a teacher got visibly upset was when my classes were being completely awful. saw a couple teachers have to yell at whole classes to shut up or we'd be having pop quizzes every day from then on

I was always quiet but also fine with pop quizzes because I always got 100 on them

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

you've never seen it? I saw at least one math teacher who got mad at kids for just not understanding. He had a short fuse.

I sympathize, but I also l know as a senior manager training their staff, I face the same thing as well which is also part of the job. You can release your stress and anger in the right outlet, I just would never do it in front of the actual person unless it's somehow justified. It just teaches you patience, which greatly helped me when I had my daughter.

Well, I meant I struggled with it. I had some that kind of got exasperated with me but thankfully didn't tell me off or anything, more just mad at the situation. I had some really understanding ones too, though.

I do remember being taken out in the hall and really given the business by this one teacher... I don't even remember what I did or said, but it wouldn't have been anything on purpose... a class clown I was not. But yeah, she did that LOOK ME IN THE EYE WHEN I'M TALKING TO YOU thing and I was already scared, and being on the spectrum and being forced to make eye contact, it was just terrifying, which is probably why I still remember it.

I only get upset when the kid is intentionally being a little shit and then acts shockedpikachuface when they're the only one in the entire class who hasn't finished the assignment >_>

That said I don't actually lash out at them. I just put on my stern face and make them do the work. Worst I'll do is say some sarcastic shit that goes way over their head. <_<

It's not about them, it's the little shitstains they have to surround themselves with,
screaming over one another.

It's cool, we've all been there.

Depends

If the teacher is explaining the same thing in the same way 18 times then I feel no sympathy

If the teacher is earnestly trying to explain it in different ways and a kid is just not getting it no matter what, I sympathize a lot

I'm a teacher at an English elementary school in Korea. I enjoy it. Kids are cute and it's nice seeing them learn and mature. Probably easy mode as far as teaching gigs are concerned since they're old enough that they can eat their own food and wipe their own ass, but young enough that they still have an intrinsic deference to authority figures. >_>
