Against. The 40-hour work week is bad enough as it is.

Manufacturing running on four six-hour shifts could be an absurd gain.

I like six 4-hr shifts better...

Why not a 24 hour work week, paid for 40 hours?

Why not work one day a week and get paid for 40 hours?

Where does the laziness slippery slope end? Why is anyone feeling entitled to get paid for work they don't do?

This is pretty much the arguments used against making 40 hours the standard work week back in the day. As well as the arguments used against increasing the number of vacation weeks every time they were increased here in Sweden. And we remained a wealthy country every single time workers got better rights.

yes easily if you're still getting paid for 40 hours. even more if i could volunteer to work fridays sometimes for overtime.

40 hours a week sucks when you're working normal business hours. makes it super hard to go to the doctor or do anything that has normal hours without taking time off work. getting a day off during the week and just scheduling everything that day would help with that. not to mention the physical and mental health you get from working less. lot of studies in other countries show peope are more productive working that 32 hour week.

I dont understand where the money comes from to give everyone a sudden raise. Moreover, some things require more than 35 hours a week. Doctors, bankers, etc

If you work retail or something, sure i guess

Maybe these record profits could be used to compensate people for creating all that value.

I would gladly never work again if it were possible so that I could instead direct my efforts towards improving my home and working on personal projects and leisure activities that I would enjoy.
