Every time I get the shot, I'm knocked out the next day. Like, "not safe to drive" levels of fatigue. They say that sometimes happens to people who have had COVID.

I'm off work on Friday. I could wait and get my shot on Thursday which would put me feeling fatigued on Friday. Of course, that leaves me open to the virus until then. Did I mention that I work in an ER and that we are at capacity?

If I go and get the shot before work tomorrow, there's a chance that I could be too fatigued on Thursday to drive safely - let alone do my job. And although I haven't experience same-day fatigue before, I'm worried that it could rear its ugly head while I'm trying to work. Historically, I've gotten the shot on a Saturday and used Sunday to rest up. This time, it's not an option.

Friday is my only day off until I leave for an Orlando vacation at the end of the month. I'm not going to get the shot there because I'll be theme-parking.

I got my shot today. It's starting to hit me now.

I was worried that it would affect me while I was at work, but it politely waited until I got off from work before making me too tired to do anything. (And, of course, I'm too stubborn to go to sleep because I haven't had time for much in the way of entertainment today.)

I'll probably be fucked tomorrow. But at least I won't be working. I got my flu shot at the same time. My right arm feels fine, but my left arm stings like hell. The pharmacist never specified which arm was which, but said that it varied which one people reacted to more strongly.

*shrugs*

Those times at work where I thought that wearing a mask wasn't super important because I was vaccinated -- I'm really grateful that I didn't get sick. I need to set a reminder to get another shot in six months and not go without it like I've done for the past month or so.

someone who worked in an ER. they saw some fucked up shit during the pandemic :(.

mainly when people got sick and ended up on ventilators (early pandemic before vaccine).

also to note: that fatigue thing only happens for one day. had that happen every single time but nothing some extra sleep wouldn't fix.

I remember running a temperature the night after I had one of the shots, either the first or second (don't remember which). Otherwise I had no side effects. But of course everyone's different.

Ugh. I feel like I've ingested sleeping pills, but still can't get to sleep.

Sleep won't help this fatigue.
Caffeine won't give me energy.
It just has to run its course.

Every six months, for the rest of my life, I'm going to experience a day like this. We could have nipped this in the bud if we'd just stayed inside for three weeks. But, no. Tough guys couldn't do that. They had to have their freedumbs. They had to weed out the weak -- even though many of them got weeded out too.

Right now, the way that I'm feeling, I'm on the verge of saying something that I'm going to regret. So it's best if I just shut up.

That's awful. We get a lot of COVID patients. I'm glad I wasn't there for the worst of it.

Trust me. I can sleep ten to twelve hours on these days. It doesn't help.

Immunizations hardly ever makes me feel bad. I am getting the COVID booster tomorrow, and I got the flu shot last Sunday.

A flu shot does nothing to me.
A COVID shot knocks me out.

I've heard that it's worse for people who have had COVID, which I did a few years ago, but I imagine that even then the level of fatigue that I experience from it is uncommon.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-vax. I gotta do what I gotta do. I just can't see staggering fatigue and head pain being the norm for everyone who gets this shot. "Hey, let's take a haymaker from Mike Tyson every six months."

Everyone who's able should be vaccinated.

Having said that, I got my first covid shot at noon, and I woke up at midnight sweating and feverish and sore and completely miserable for 12 more hours til noon the next day when a wave of cool came over and I felt totally fine.

It's always worth it, but definitely something to plan a little bit.

I'm actually feeling a lot better now. I feel like someone whose fever broke.

I'm not at 100%, but even 80% is way better than I expected to feel at this point.

CVS is pretty awful. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the worst retail pharmacy for understaffing.

That's where I managed to get my shots yesterday though. I was probably in there for about half an hour. I didn't have a choice. Today is my last day off before going on vacation next week. I wasn't going to go to Orlando without being vaccinated and I didn't want to risk being fatigued on a workday.

actually more on the blame on the country of origin (being real shady about it).

it happened before but it didn't spread beyond china (except maybe a few cases but didn't get very far).
