Overpopulation makes people feel like they get no privacy. Everything costs too much and it seems like laws only exist to protect the economic predators. Nobody wants to pay a living wage and they want a skeleton crew on the floor at all times, which overworks the employee and gives the customer a horrible experience. So I think people are a lot worse off in most ways. This entire system is collapsing around us as we speak and our environmental experts have basically told us that we have thirty years to live.
