Molar that got filled 5 years ago got a huge hole in it. Dentist can't drill and fill the cavity because it's super rotten inside. Only option is a potential root canal or getting it pulled and replaced. I have 3 other missing molars. Probably gonna have to drop like 2-3k for the root canal out of pocket to fix it.

American dental care is stupidly expensive for anything beyond a filling. Take care of ur teeth and don't go too hard on sugar.

I'm in a similar situation though fortunately without any pain as I compulsively brush/floss/clean throughout the day. I've looked into every option for insurance-free dental care and it's impossible. I've even checked around to see if local dental school offer free/cheap care but they haven't done that since the late 2000s.

If you're in that much pain it might be infected and if you let it go for that long it'll be even worse for your health down the line. $3K is steep but I'd recommend at least getting it pulled. I'm sure a replacement would be considerably more.

Its important to take care of your teeth (and general oral health), but there also is a large genetic component. So dont beat yourself up if you have bad teeth. (Beat up your parents instead. J/k)

Mouth health is so connected to general health, including the heart and vascular system. There is no logical reason to separate dental care from health care, but were America, so

What the f...

2-3k for a root canal?

That's a basic thing for sick tooths.

And believe me when I say: Teeth don't get better with time. Even if you are somewhat able to ignore the pain until the tooth dies of, when they inflame (and they will) it only gets worse.

No i was real dumb when I was younger in my late teens and early 20s. I was addicted to sugar and would eat crazy amounts of sugar daily. Talking about drinking 2-3 bottles of soda, candy, syrup, anything sweet daily for years on end.

If you don't have insurance, typically dentists will work with you on an installment payment plan. That way you don't have to pay it all at once.

I was still getting cavities when I only ate like 1200 calories a day and only drank water (did this for 3 years). It sucks

Root canal isn't really basic. It's like right before last resort (removal).

Like the sign in my Dentist office says:
