Probably. I like taking my time in games and fucking around. And if I had to keep an audience entertained and keep moving forward constantly, it would ruin a game for me >_>

Depends on what im meant to do with them. If its do whatever you want in the game for 8 hours, no. If its find and report bugs and glitches or try to become the best competitive player, then yes because those focus so much on the metagame that you eventually lose sight of the magic.

Oh and also if its being a streamer, fuck yes it would ruin it. I dont want to play a game at the pace and on the terms of random neckbeards.

Yes, I rarely play games so having to play them 8 hours a day on a schedule or some shit would kill it entirely for me.

Streaming and having to interact with an audience, speedrunning, yes. If I could make a living making walkthroughs, longplays, or doing reviews, I think I'd be happy.

Probably not.

My job didn't ruin math, numbers, databases or excel calculations for me either.

Sure, I rarely do calculations for fun, but if I see something interesting I want to calculate a bit (like, dps calculation about stats or builds, or how long it would take me to grind for something), I still open Excel without hesitation.

It depends on the job I'd imagine. QA probably has specific games they work on ruined for them, for example, but I doubt it hurts the hobby as a whole.

For streamers, there's a podcast I listened to where a couple answered a question a while back. They didn't say or act like it ruined things, but it definitely changed how they look at and play games. Anytime they got into something and found it enjoyable or good, they had to stop and consider of it would be good stream material and potentially drop it until they could stream it. Starting any new games came with a similar consideration beforehand. And if it's a stream game, they can't just pick up and play that game whenever for most things, and definitely can't make meaningful process while not streaming. Comes with its own varieties of headaches related to it. Still sounds like a pretty good gig to me, but I doubt I could handle the Weight of Eyes or relative lack of security with the profession.

Streaming, having a yt channel or similar would be easy.

Playing esports professionally? After some time it would definitely ruin my motivation to play games while not being paid.
Every popular game at highest level pretty much requires you to play 10 hours a day if you want to make a living, if not more. It's a ridiculous grind and definitely has an impact on not just your perception of gaming, but life in general. With obvious health risks.
You can say it's easy to sit behind a screen and play all day long, but those players are expected to be in peak mental shape at all times, which doesn't come naturally for most people, especially not gamers.

Meanwhile if you're streaming, you don't really need to be a god gamer 100% of the time and you can manage your schedule however you see fit.

Yes I would hate it

Esp if I have to interact with the wider gaming community. Those people are too toxic
