I get attacked often for putting ketchup on mine.

All kinds of stuff, honestly. I mix it up, I like onions, relish, chili, and most of the condiments.

My sweet zucchini relish I make and can. I'm not even that big of a relish fan but I was turned onto this recipe years ago and loved it and have made it every summer since then. Every person I let try it raves about it and always wants me to make them some. Last time I made it I made 192 jars of it. 16 cases.

Also I'm a big fan of chili dogs. Make a pot of home made chili and then absolutely cover the dogs on a plate with the chili, white onions, green onions (scallions) cheese, and jalapenos. Maybe even throw in some banana peppers. Then eat it with a fork.

I usually go back and forth between either ketchup and mustard, or chili, mustard, and diced onions.

When I make hot dogs at home I usually just use mustard and ketchup.

When I get a hot dog from a street vendor I'll add a few more things like fried onions, banana peppers, bacon bits.

I still have yet to try Whataburger Ketchup that people rave on about. The only 2 kind of Ketchups we have here in Eastern Canada outside of store brands are Heinz and Frenchs. I mean their decent, but insanely basic.

My family quite literally ran a hot dog shop as a side hustle for another business we ran.

My summer job in grad school was working for my family selling hot dogs and ice cream. I am not from Chicago but I am shocked ketchup is an issue on them.

Anyway, plain if in a pinch.

Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, Lea and perrins, and a little bit of relish with salt and pepper
sometimes I simmer it with a pinch of sugar

or just put mayonnaise and barbecue sauce

I just prefer plain hot dogs, on rare occasions I'll have tomato sauce

I grew up in Chicago and I think this is wildly exaggerated. Most Chocagoans do prefer hot dogs without ketchup, because it's too much sweetness combined with the relish and it overpowers the other flavors. But they don't care if you want to put ketchup on your hot dog. My little sister was a picky eater so she would only eat them with ketchup and onions, and even at the famous traditional Chicago hot dog places nobody cared. The staff assumes no ketchup when you ask for a hot dog with everything on it, but if you request ketchup they'll put it on no problem.

Anyway if it's a real Chicago hot dog with Vienna beef franks and everything I prefer no ketchup. But if I'm at Costco or I'm making cheap hot dogs at home or something then I usually put on ketchup, mustard, and onions.
