You can tell they're trying to push Chadley and that skirt girl but I can't imagine more bland characters. Why would you even bother putting them in the game, let alone trying to do something new with them?

Having a classic FFVII character show up repeatedly over the world might have some story issue, but Chadley? That dude can be anywhere whenever, because he has nothing else going on.

Chadley needs no time or effort spent on character or personality or anything like that, because his blandness canonically makes sense.

And minimal Reno, I know the Remake games will differ from the original but iirc Reno only shows up once time during the span of time Rebirth covers. Well maybe two if he's also in the bar in Junon. But he's still "recovering from his injuries" per Rude in Mythril Mine so wouldn't be out of the ordinary to keep him limited, gives Elena more time to shine!!

now I guess I need to watch this TGS footage at some point, I want to resist but I caught a couple of glimpses of Kalm looking gorgeous... and there's a new card game eh, hmmm....

Now that I look it up, the Turks weren't really all that relevant in the original, were they? I think the only times you had to see them between the Mythril Mines and the final fight with them in Midgar was Tseng in the Gold Saucer and Temple of the Ancients and Elena in Icicle Inn (which is past where this part ends unless they change the order of things).

for story relevancy sure that's about it, but more than a few spots they pop up. In addition to them being in the bar in Junon and the Gongaga Rude/Reno fight I mentioned before there's also:

-Wutai/Stolen Materia quest
-Reno intros the Carry Armor in the underwater reactor
-Sunken Gelnika fight
-Rude fight in Rocket Town before the rocket takes off

I guess we got a Reno, Rude, and Reno+Rude in remake and this one would have Elena/Rude and Reno/Rude at a minimum, I wonder if they do throw in a 3rd fight somewhere. Maybe in the Gold Saucer w/ Tseng.

The cards they showed reminded me a lot of B&D from Bravely Default II. The board layout seems different though. B&D was pretty fun.

She was first in a book from 2011 that takes place before Advent Children. This is her first time in an actual game

yeah that was me too. they don't do a good job onboarding you. pretty sure you have to be extremely conservative/cautious in that one.

I found Yuffie in general not that fun to use. Got used to her a bit by the end but she was a marked step down from the playable characters in the main game. Didn't really like Intergrade that much in general. Had some fun running around sector 7 again near the beginning though.

Man this is a really interesting take, lol. Yuffie is mechanically so vastly superior to the entire party of the base game that I was initially wondering how she was going to incorporate into Rebirth without rendering the rest of the party completely useless.

I've only got like 15 minutes here so the take is meaningless at the moment, but so far I don't like how Yuffie plays at all.

I beat the wolves though!

Yeah this is a really weird take. Once you know what you're doing you can shred with Yuffie.

Yeah Yuffie is overwhelmingly powerful compared to the OG cast. Elemental ninjutsus alone free up four fuckin materia slots, it's a nonsense amount of extra power, never mind her other mechanics

Oh yeah I racked up big damage with her once I figured that out, but I didn't find it particularly enjoyable. I didn't enjoy the feedback from the game somehow. Like in ff7r I loved using Starshower, Overcharge, Triple Slash, Counterstance, etc. None of Yuffie's felt that good to use.

The pronunciation in that picture is definitely how I read it as a kid!

That is such good news, I really didn't want to start saying Ket Sheet or however it's actually supposed to be pronounced.

The Gaelic pronunciation is "ket shee" or something similar. But there is no Gaelic in the world of FFVII, so it's fine.

So 14 year old me was right and all attempts since then to change the pronunciation in my head since then have been misguided. Good to know.
