i personally find it a horrific idea the idea that you only have 1 true love and all of that

love is hard and messy and full of pain thats how its suppose to be

but its all worth it even if the love eventually fades and dies it still was worth it

soulmates are made not found

I think there are several people we could be compatible with to varying degrees

I didn't believe in it until I found my wife and we started to grow together. Now I cannot imagine growing old with anyone else.

These. I believe soulmates exist. But not in the fairy tale style of "there's one specific person that you're destined to be with." But that there are people out there who are deeply compatible with you and you will grow together.

nah, most of us just don't have the luck to get it right the first time.

Depends on your values and stuff

Don't base a relationship strictly on attraction and hobbies. Those are surface level. I learned that the hard way.

Her value system was practically the polar opposite of my own. But she was a nerdy hot chick so I was like oh man that's the stuff.

No. Love is a challenge. But it's not "suppose to be" anything other than what two people make it. You cannot paint all pictures with the same brush on this, no matter how broad.

That does not mean you can generalize what love "is suppose to be" between different people, which is what I was replying to with my comment. Add whatever numbers you want and try to tie it together however you want, you will not be able to say with any definitive absolution what love is supposed to be and not supposed to be for different people, couples or groups.

When two people can communicate without need for words, you know you've found something special.

to me, a soulmate and a true love are not the same thing
i think of a soulmate as an accidental replica in everything except looks. that means tastes, thoughts, mannerisms, responses. finding one is almost impossible but not entirely.

true love is something else. love is worked on, and relationships need to be built, and need to evolve as people evolve. it's effort and time, change, adjustment, acceptance. but it doesn't mean the person is a complete replica of you. your true love can be totally opposite of you.

the idea that there's only one perfect match for somebody seems silly to me. There's some billions of people out there, there's gotta be like at least...I dunno, 10?
