Theyre already banned from my city and its a pain in the ass because I use them as trash bag liners. Now we have to pay ten cents per paper bag or buy our own reusable bags. Its one more way for the corporations to cut a cost and pass it down to the consumer.

They were supposed to, but never got around to it.

They are mostly banned here in wNY/suburbs of Buffalo but not entirely. Paper bags suck so I just carry around a couple reusable fabric bags when I go out.

Already happened in my area.

We still have plastic bags where in live in Oregon but you have to pay 5 cents each for them.

My city charges 10c for them, but it goes to fund a river cleanup effort that is actually working.

Yeah, it's bushit that they're charging for the paper bags. I have a store that does that around here and it just pisses me off to no end.

My city charges 10 cents for them too, but I have never once had someone come up to me in the self check out line and double check what I put for the "How many plastic bags will you use?" question, where it calculates how much extra you owe

Not here.

I use them to line trash cans and sometimes I use them instead of a lunch box when I bring drinks or food to work. If a kid spills a drink or a dog makes a mess, I'll immediately grab a plastic grocery bag and a roll of paper towels..

Also, I can carry more groceries in plastic bags when I'm unloading the car and moving my food to the kitchen. At least 6 bags at a time.

I dont want my city to ban them. But I dont see it happening anytime soon I use them quite frequently

They're banned in New York state except for restaurants.

I think they were considering it here until COVID hit, then they discouraged/banned using reusable bags and ended up not going through with it.

I'm also not a huge fan of forced paper bags. I took a bus to the grocery store when I was staying out of town for a couple of nights and had to lug around a paper bag with a couple of energy drinks, a sandwich, and a cheese board.

I just bring tote bags along anyway. Plastic bag handles kinda hurt to carry and dig into my wrists and arms.

I cried about it when it first happened in the bay, but adjust to it and eventually preferred bring my own bag anyways.

Sit on the sidewalk and sell them for a nickel, and you'll get a decent return.

During covid there were two cities that were in the earliest stages of doing that, by earliest stages I mean "should we spend 5 minutes next city council meeting discussing if we want to have an in-depth discussion on hiring a consulting group to look into a plastic bag ban" stage. Both of these cities had their meeting on a Tuesday, by Friday there was a bill on the governor's desk with a veto proof majority banning counties, cities, or municipalities form banning plastic bags.

So yeah, that ain't happening any time soon.

They're mostly banned nationwide here. There are some cases they can still be used, but they're pretty uncommon now.

I was a bit worried how it'd play out when it was announced, but in practice they've just been replaced with paper ones which so far work just as well for 99% of uses.

Wouldn't bother me too much tho I reuse plastic bags for other things quite a bit.

Banned in my state since around 2019 if I recall.
When I took a trip to a different state a few years later I was almost surprised to see them again...
