This is kinda scary as it shows just how big and influence streaming and youtube has been.
However the next generation it is going to be much much worse.

Imagine everyone talking like XQC or Kai Cenat and having a huge crush on Pokimane.

Yep. And it wasn't that long ago where music was the source of a lot of new trends. You remember how big yolo got after Drake's 'The Motto' came out? "You only live once, that's the motto, Yolo"

I think that's the only one that can actually be attributed specifically to a streamer. The rest are just lingo that's existed for a while and got popular among Gen Z now.

Like bussin is AAVE from over a decade ago. And WWE's Braun Strowman has been telling people to "get these hands" for years

False. Earliest use is 2008 and it wasn't widely used till 2013ish.

'Throwing hands' is from the 1960s. 'Catching hands' is just an obvious variant.

Gen Z slang, like every other generational slang, is a few new words and a whole lot of rediscovered words and borrowing from other vernacular.

Correct the term they remember is different and wasn't widely used.

The first time Stan as we know it is used has been found to be a tweet in 2008.
However it had not yet been widely used.

This is a case of human memory being faulty and the coiner of the term using a niche barely used term and appropriating it and making it super popular.

Language evolves, but lets not act like a lot of these terms just appeared from the aether on Twitch though. Words like "bussin" is from the regional Geechee AA subculture, "finna" is universal in AAVE, "deadass" is another regional AA term from NY.

Everyone knows language evolves.

But it doesn't appear spontaneously in a vacuum. It builds on previous usages and borrows from other sources.

Is 'floored' supposed to be Gen Z? That's an old one. Blur were punning on it in 'Coffee & TV' (1999).
