They didn't really explain why it failed, just that the certification process involves checking for bugs like "are trophies being unlocked properly."

If the game was that broken I don't think they would have even applied for certification.

I doubt any game would get denied certification for having trophies not unlocking properly. I literally just got a platinum for a game that had a bugged trophy. A Night in the Woods had a bugged trophy for multiple years.

This game was probably completely unplayable

Ubisoft can take all the time they need to get this game in a good state before launching it. Call of Duty has been beyond shit the past few years, and XDefiant is looking like the closest thing to an enjoyable multiplayer FPS game reminiscent of the older CoD games.

I still find it hard to believe Ubisoft ended up becoming one of the largest hacking companies. Where did we go wrong as a society?

Yep, that's why I'm hyped for it. Even longtime CoD loyalists like XclusiveAce are excited for XDefiant to become a possible alternative at this point.

Games fail cert because of first-party platform-specific reasons, not because of quality issues. It checks for stuff like button prompts appearing for the wrong controller or crossplay not working properly between consoles.

I'm guessing the reason is more likely the in game mtx store used Ubisoft payment processor instead of the console one.

Even that seems weird. I don't think people would blame Microsoft and Sony here. The skepticism would be over Ubisoft.

My guess is this is their weird attempt to be more transparent but they underestimate how much gamers will make kneejerk assumptions and narratives from limited information.

Its because the CoD community/YouTubers are raining this game as a CoD killer and are hounding the developers for a release date.

Im sure most people here havent heard of it, but there is massive amount of hype for this to overtake Call of Duty. Release date is important because everyone knows it cant overtake MW3 and nobody wants another TitanFall 2 situation
