I don't think there are very many enemy's in 1-5 that scale to the metal gears. So likely yes.

snake is a biologically enhanced super soldier who specializes in dropping into missions with nothing on him, procuring all weapons and ammo on sight, and fighting dudes with superpowers as well as giant robots. even when hes old and broken hes fighting enemies on the level of anything in re1-5. I think if anything he would do noticably better than any of the protagonists in those games
