If you go back far enough, you can find some famous person you are related to. For example, almost every European (and many non-Europeans) are descendants of Charlemagne.

Famous? Nope.

Noteworthy? I like to think so. Beaten, jailed and or burned out of homes over voting/literacy issues. More than a few.

my great-grandfather was the mayor of a town in Guatemala named Saint Cristobal

my aunt was the Comptroller for Guatemala for four years. It means that she did payments

I have translated 40 books and video games to the English language, which is a little bit noteworthy, but not famous

Yes. My late great uncle (grandmother's brother) was a major league baseball player. I'm not gonna get any more specific than that though. Don't need people trying to look up my family lol

I don't think your aunt counts as your ancestor unless you're from Alabama.

I went down this rabbit hole one night. I found a family tree on an old angelfire site and on my Dad's side I traced back to Scotland in the 1600's. Things get fuzzy from there, lots of connections through the various clans but not sure on actual blood.

My grandpa's uncle, I believe? Famous sculptor with works on display in the Mormon temple, Supreme Court building, and various other state capitols, banks, etc.
He also created the original ram logo for Dodge.

Two, somewhat.

My mother did one of those paid family tree ancestry things a few years ago and found that on my dad's side, his father's great great great (like 7 or 8 times back, Idk) grandmother was the lady who was supposed to have given birth to the Jersey Devil, a New Jersey folklore (I'm from NJ). A quick Google will explain what that is better than I can lol but it's basically NJ's equivalent to Bigfoot.

Also this I knew about since I was a kid, but my great great grandfather (on my mom's side) was a Titanic survivor. According to his obituary he was a firefighter and/or worked in the coal engine room or some such thing, and he accidentally hurt his hand while trying to lower a lifeboat, so he was pushed aboard the lifeboat. He was from Switzerland.

One of my ancestors was the head sheriff at Jamestown, and then he went back to England to get his family and came back with them on the Mayflower which is kinda cool. Also I'm related to Jesse James back from when my fam lived in Missoruh,

My great-great-grandfather was the engineer of Second 21 in the Bagley train wreck, also knows as the Great Salt Lake wreck. They think that he had a heart attack and that was part of the cause of the wreck.

My mother's side traces back to the Bartons of Clara Barton fame (though obviously not a direct line to Clara Barton herself because she did not have any children).

On my father's side, an ancestor married a Cherokee princess. I took that story at face value for decades before learning that it is almost certainly code for someone marrying a woman of color and that story was concocted by racists in the family because they felt the need to save face.

Apparently King Phillip III of Spain was my 11th great grandfather.

Somewhat more interestingly, I have a something-great grandfather Clements who had some decendants who changed the spelling to Clemens, making me related to Mark Twain.

Alledgedly Rob Roy MacGregor.

But the whole thing sounds like some idk... vague as shit thing that who really knows. Basically if your last name is one of these, or if your mother's maiden name was one then you count.

I'm unaware of anyone else really beyond that fully legit "I heard this and that, so I'm telling fact" you can totally trust.

Nothing truly big.

As far as I know, a direct ancestor from my last name did the first tram in my country (still pulled by horses, but on rails).

And another was a politican who was probably decently known at that time, but is completly forgotten by now.
