This person likes to act like their opinion is widely shared, acts like they're speaking for a large majority, uses "we" a lot in arguments to act like they have a large following, basically generalizing a group of people to align with them. It's definitely an argumentative tactic used to validate their opinions and make it sound stronger than it actually is. However, when said group are generalized to have a bad traits or are being criticized, the person now uses "individualism" to defend themselves. "We are all different! How dare you generalize us!".

In argumentation theory, an argumentum ad populum is a fallacious argument which is based on claiming a truth or affirming something is good because the majority thinks so.

Also known as Appeal to Popularity, Appeal to the Majority or Bandwagon Fallacy.

I dont think this is what TC is talking about. This is like saying You are wrong for disliking steak. Most people like steak you know.

That just sounds manipulative. I know a guy who does a lot of sweeping generalizations about men and women and tries to get other guys to back up his argument. "That's just how so men are. We're not good listeners. Isn't that right 'Nox'?"
