DLCs are included as long as they're actual in-game content (so not things like soundtracks or artbooks). Games that get removed from Steam only count if you play them at least once before they're removed. Non-game software is not included. You can't play future games before they actually release, but they're included once they do.

The money is tax free Australian dollars.

The games easily. All games free for life is worth way more than 50k.

Eh, I'll take the money. I probably have a ton of left over money given that Steam has regular sales and I mostly only play fighters. Like the only games I'm looking at right now are Squirrel With a Gun, UNI 2, and Granblue, which shouldn't be more than $200, even with all the DLC.

I do not game on PC and have zero interest in Steam.

Games. I'll be entertained forever and it would be nice to never have to buy another game again.

Money. I wouldn't have anywhere near the time nor interest to play everything on Steam, and if there's a game on there I do want to play, I'll have $50k to dip into and purchase it.

the boomer index fund dividend yield from 50k is enough to buy two or three new console games per month, or twenty one games per month at the average steam title price.

I can't imagine myself ever playing $50k worth of games. So easy choice.

I would have to check how much money I spent on Steam every year.

But lets say I buy 5 games for 60 per year, that would be 300 per year.

Google tells me that 50k AUD are 30k Euro, so I would need 100 years to get 30k.

That's a big "lol nope" right now.

But lets go deeper:
This would mean that I'm not going to buy any console titels anymore either, as long as they are available on steam.

It would also mean that I'm going to get all these decent, but stupidly overpriced DLCs.

And it would also mean that price increases or inflation would not affect my games anymore.

I'm currently not in a dire need of money, so 30k would not change my life right now.

And, most of all, I would probably save years of lifetime because I don't have to ponder "should I buy it? should I wait for a sale? Will I actually play that for more than 5 hours?" for every single game.

I honestly think this deal isn't that unequal in the long run, especially since you have to convert the 50k AUD in some other currency first.

If you need the money right now, or truely want to invest that money somewhere else, the money is obviously the better idea, but the steam option is just incredibly comfortable and not bad in the long run either.
