I've worked for Amazon and was ambivalent at the time. Now I would not and I am unemployed. If I had to do it to survive I would, but that wouldn't be the case.

Amazon is opening a distribution centre in Western Australia soon. Presumably the pay and working conditions will be better here than they would be in the US.

Amazon pays more than most retail and fast food but, often you will subject yourself to some terrible working conditions and hours. Probably the worst management outside of sweat shops. Also don't expect any time off during December. Seriously Amazon is encouraging employees to sleep in their car in the employee parking lot.

Australia Post also doesnt approve leave (unless its medical) in December. Probably pretty standard for industries that dont have the privilege of being able to close over Christmas.

Get yourself some adult diapers to wear if you want to keep your job because from what I understand amazon keeps a close eye on workers who have to go pee a lot.

This is true for delivery drivers

Lmao... this is me.. been a Amazon driver since last May.

I can't speak for warehouse workers, but being a driver is pretty tough. I can't lie.. I do like the job. But it has so much flaws that I'm not surprised by the 90-100% turnover rate...

I'm bored so i'll list the flaws I have to deal with daily...

-Low pay

-Our routing and GPS system is insanely dogshit... I'm surprised a trillion dollar company like Amazon just can't improve it.. they just don't want to...

-We deliver to over 200-250 or even 300 properties daily. This is double the amount than UPS, FedEx, and USPS. This is a combination of homes, business, and apartments together...

-Very time consuming. In my station, you get to the station at 10am. You don't leave until 7-8 PM depending on your route, performance, etc.

-Vans are pretty beaten up. Can smell like piss and sweat. Every van has issues. This is on the DSP side tho..

-Vans can get very hot.... like an oven.

This is all I can think for now. Yea.. warehouse workers always complain, but us drivers deal with insane shit as well. Workload is just too much. I'm planning to leave in the end of this year!

Depends on what you mean by "unemployed."

Out of work but still collecting unemployment insurance as I search for my next job? Sure, I'd take that over working for Amazon.

Unable to keep a roof over my head and feed myself? Then I would obviously have to take an Amazon job if nothing else was available.

And who are you, my little friend? Not a spoon... not a fork... but something in between. A fpoon. What will you think of next, Germany?

I already work for them so yes. The warehouse I'm in working isn't really that bad and I take advantage of the unpaid and paid time off. Not only that but I'm not being tracked on performance and taking my time so I'm good.

I've had far worse jobs than this amazon so I'll gladly take it. Medline was the worst I ever worked for. ( I did not mind the overtime but hated the unnecessary overtime where if a machine breaks down we had to wait two hours to get fixed and got that as overtime to pick up the slack)

amazon restrooms are like three stories down and each time you leave your workstation without it being breaktime is a write-up.

Get 3 write-ups and you're fired.

That's why you need to learn to piss in a jar or a diaper if you work at amazon.

Seems like easy lawsuit to win

No AC and I heard stuff like they measure your performance and YOU HAVE TO go fast or you get a write up if you don't go fast, its not just that too if you make a few mistakes they will fire you for that as well
