The main goal is to prevent vulnerable children from escaping indoctrination from their Chistian parents. Some are questioning their sexuality or sexual identity, some might suspect they're being abused, some might just want to learn about sex, and some might be doubting their religion. There are a great deal of evil parents in this area that don't want their kids to have resources that could help them better understand themselves.

This policy will almost definitely contribute to an increase in teen suicides.

Seems like a reasonable reaction from the library board to being bitched at by people worried that their kids are going to read things they dont approve of. Essentially If you want to hassle us about your kids having access to books you might not like then you bring them in and watch over them yourself. It sucks that they have to deal with that idiocy and some kids are going to be worse off because of it.

I read horror all the time and anything I cared to read was fine, though if they saw something that concerned them, I'm sure they would've just talked to me about it... it's this thing some people do that's called parenting.

On the one hand, it was fun as a kid going with my parents to pick up a book over the summer every few weeks. They didn't care what it was, as long as I read it and didn't lose the damn thing.

On the other hand, that's not what this is about.

Gov. Kay Ivey announced Tuesday that she has sent a letter to APLS director Nancy Pack expressing concern about potentially sexually inappropriate books in libraries and how the APLS encourages or enforces parental supervision and involvement.

And from someone else:

As a board member of the APLS, its important for me that we represent the values of the people of Alabama, and protect our children from sexually inappropriate content and woke policies I strongly believe that we should let children be children again, and stop pushing a social agenda on them.

This is another way to limit access to books.

Libraries have websites where people can check out e-book versions of the printed books. I wonder if they're requiring that the library websites do the same?

Right now, a 13-year-old can roam over to the adult section, Lambert said. Thats what some people dont understand. Right now if youre 13 and above, you can go anywhere in the library you want. If we put this in place, the parent has to be there to make sure they dont go over into that section.
This is the most asinine justification for placing more restrictions on teens.
