the same kind of character. Always some spellsword or something. I really want to branch out in this game. I tried to in Elden Ring, but I ended up putting all my points into roughly the same build (after respec) but it was just more arcane-leaning.
Any advice for breaking this cycle? --- You gonna do something or just stand there and bleed? ... Copied to Clipboard!

I guess barbarian? Hard to be a spellsword when you aren't allowed to cast spells in the first place

If you need mental tricks to play something else just pick a completely different class like a Barbarian and tell yourself you will play your usual later. That is what I did in the EA to avoid playing my usual Sorcerer, and I ended up trying a number of different classes. Though to be fair you can play something different and still have something like that in your party - that is one of the strengths of games with companions. ... Copied to Clipboard!

The last time I played dnd with a group, I was a half drow cleric. I dont really like healing, but I liked the idea of resurrecting dead enemies to fight for me. Kinda like necro in Diablo II and III.
