Walmart could probably afford to pay all their employees 30 bucks an hour and still make billions in profit every year.

Their stocks continue to go up yet they have to cut wages? Makes ya think

I would love to know how the Walmart Spokesperson would justify the argument that cutting the salary of people in customer service would improve customer service.

Shoplifting issues to the point the whole entire corporation is suffering.

Started? When I worked there they hired me on for 12.50 an hour plus the wage increase for being Store Standard. A year in to my job I looked at my pay, it was 12.75 no store standard bonus. This doesn't even touch the fact that they fucked over the entire store when we were supposed to get Covid pay from the government. They gave us "bonuses" a week before our Covid pay and because they filed it as payment rather than a bonus, we got 300 CAD instead of our 2,000 CAD Covid pay.

We got back at them though, the entire department mass quit all on the same day. I went back to college and the other 7 people went to work elsewhere.

The stock market is not a indication of the economy which is a hot mess right now.

Walmart Canada has been doing tap payment for years.

It's right there in the article. The people getting salary cuts are people fulfilling online orders, not a customers service position, who don't want to move to positions working in other departments, which are customer service positions, leaving customer service gaps.

Shareholders probably want more money, and they have to make up the difference somewhere.

Cool, we'll be subsidizing their employees even more now.
