Slowing job market is code for businesses knowing they can fuck over employees once again. Also, this happened back in July. Still fucking awful, but not sure why they are bringing up 2 month old news in a new article.

Because there is a cost of living crisis driven by 40% YOY rental increases, double digit count of interest rate hikes amounting to a ~2000% increase (0.25 to 5.0), near double-digit inflation, and record profit margins by a lot of grocers and staple retailers. Not to mention the stagnation/rollback of wages for the majority of workers in north america. Consumers are looking to survive by shopping at low cost outlets such as wallmart. But you knew all this

Because not only do they have a huge selection of products to all buy in the same place but they also throw out sales in favor of maintaining the lowest prices on the market.

Walmart helps a poor boy like me save money.

I think a major factor in the reason why they're lowering the wages again is because they can and they're greedy.

A lot of the Walmarts around me have been able to cut back the total amount of employees they need because they're no longer open 24 hours and a majority of the cashiers have been replaced by self checkouts.

now if we had the collective balls to start unionizing. that one attempt a year ago was a tepid start but a start nonetheless. shit's hitting the fan everywhere so there's hope.

unfortunately, this. raising minimum wages in the lowest skilled sectors is a delicate subject.

Or because its all theyll be given because experience (or rather the lack thereof) is a legal form of discrimination. Thats been my experience. Im more than qualified to do jobs Ive been passed over for in the past, so the only work Ive ever been allowed to do is lugging boxes and vans around.

it is for workers so unskilled, so desperate, that few employers would ever hire them at minimum wage.
