I usually write or type out "and." When I have to take notes or write fast, I use "+." Sometimes I type "&" for artistic purposes.

If I'm typing and I need to abreviate "and" I'll use &

If I'm handwriting, I'll use this:

It's kind of like a plus, except you don't lift the pen from the paper when making the cross.
