It's pretty cool how Del Toro has basically become the champion for animated cinema in the west when he really doesn't have to be. Dude loves the art form.

Doesn't he claim every movie is his final one? Until he makes another. I swear I've heard multiple Miyazaki movies marketed as "his final one"

I watched Princess Mononoke and Porco Rosso in the theater this year. They were great.

Those two and Nausicaa are my three favorite Miyazaki films. That Crimson Pig is criminally underrated.

Good, now get to work on that Monster adaptation.

Dude is 82 years old and supposedly the production of this film took a huge toll on him. This is for sure his last as a director.

Maybe so. But I still remember other movies being "his last one". I think he kept trying to retire but then changed his mind

He's only officially retired once technically iirc. He would say he was going to retire after Princess Mononoke but he never followed through with it.
