I enjoyed Season 1 with Johnathan and Joseph, it seemed like a traditional "let's train our Harmon to defeat the big bad!" type show. Once stands are introduced in Stardust Crusaders though, every episode or two has just been "A new villain has shown up with this really random stand power, how will Joestar win??"

It was a good change of pace and worked well with the road trip theme of Stardust Crusaders, but in Diamond is Unbreakable I did start to get pretty tired of the basic premise of every episode by the end. At least Josuke was a really likeable protagonist and I liked the overall storyline w/ Kira, for once not a "I'm gonna end the world!" villain.

However I just started Golden Wind, and after 7 or so episodes I can tell it is quickly devolving into "A new stand user Mafioso has shown up, how will Giorno and company win??" I'm not sure I can slog through another 30 episodes of them beating 20 random stand users again, and then have them finally fight the mob boss in the final episode. Is this how Golden Wind and Stone Ocean play out? How about the rest of the manga arcs, the same crap?

S2 literally is just S1 with extra ripple.

Yeah, but no one talks about Jojo in seasons, that's awkward.

P3 is very much "stand of the week." Later parts incorporate the overarching plot more organically. If you don't enjoy it in Part 4, it's just not for you. Parts 7 and 8 detract from that "fight of the week" by having more happening to the characters outside of fighting. Part 7 is a huge race across the USA, part 8 is a weird mystery series. But those aren't animated, yet.
Part 7 in particular is very well received, though it relies a lot on callbacks (that are done right). It's in an alternate universe, so you theoretically skip to it and just read the manga.

But, yeah, if you don't enjoy watching anime fights, maybe don't watch Jojo.

Wrong. If you don't like stylizing jojo-style fights, don't watch Jojo.

There are people who love Naruto and DBZ and Shokugeki no Soma and Yakitate Japan and Madoka and Gundam and whatever else... who do not like Jojo.

Don't lump Jojo with anime fights overall, because it is the weird exception. And I say that as someone who likes Jojo and dislikes Madoka. While being varying levels of love and "eh its okay" with the rest.

Jojo is not anime. It is a form, a delightful form, of anime. But it is no more relevant to anime than is someone cooking a bread that allows you to time travel.

Part 3 is one of the most overrated pieces of anime I've ever seen.

Part 4 is fucking lit though.

It felt like they way over extended Part 3. It did not need to be a whole 48 episodes.

My unpopular opinion, and yes, 3 is not my favorite ever...

S1 is actually pretty awesome.

Maybe its just because Giorno hasn't grown on me yet, but I'll keep watching Part 5 and see how it goes. So far Giorno just seems flat compared to Joseph, Jotaro, and Josuke

I think Part 2 is the only part with Nazi's in it.

Well, S2 is the just-barely-pre-WW2 arc. And basically the last time they mess with proper vamps for a bit with an exception or two. Or, well, what Jojo does with vamps.

I like it, its still the S1 stuff continued in a way. You know, pillar men, the mask thing, etc. Plus it has a pretty cool finale and the earlier parts are when the posing thing really gets going.

Part 3 is a guilty pleasure

Honestly yeah, I'm not a fan of the stands either. I went into Jojo completely blind and absolutely loved the first 2 seasons. It felt mostly like a martial arts anime that had a weird, but funny plot. Then I got to the stands and was disappointed that the fighting changed so much. I put it on the backburner after that. I'll go back eventually.

As a baseline for part 3 since I heard its bad compared to part 4

Part 1 and 2 are just generic action manga for that time. It wasn't able to compete with series like FotNS, Otokujuku, Peacock King etc.

Only after part 3 onwards the series has it's own identity thanks to stands.

Like you didn't enjoy the D'arbys, Pet Shop, Oingo Boingo, Hol Horse, B A B Y S T A N D, Polnareff's totally rational fear of toilets, Kakyoin tongue-punching cherries, Joseph's air travel, or that goofy pose Polnareff make while taking a picture? If none of that was enjoyable, I just don't think Jojo is right for the TC.

Cause yeah, I didn't recognize a single name you just spouted, aside from a vague sense that an internet reviewer probably hated on them at some point, likely during a video where they are saying its another example doing things wrong that the thing they are reviewing at that time is also doing wrong. Just to be clear, I hate Teen Titans Go, like the other DCAU stuff, and, oddly, actually like Super Hero Squad for what it matters.

Also, animaniacs and such, since you know, that was my era and such. And is still good.
