I think Axel and Blaze are the only playable characters that appear in all the games.

Yes, I usually use Axel, especially for SoR 2.

In sor3 I prefer Blaze because she's snappier compared to Axel. In modded sor2 (plus ultra, introduces running and dozen tweaks) I'm playing I use Max because his jumping piledriver feels so good. Axel is outright broken with jumping tatsumaki, rush move, grabs and shin shoryuken special

I always prefer the balance type in traditional beat'em up I.E Cody, Axel, Predator Warrior, Leonardo, etc.

I did in Streets of Rage (genesis and game gear). When 2 came out, I switched to Skate.
