i played this game for 90 hours in 2021

and then tried to come back to it and the combat was overwhelming

so i'm going through cutscenes rather than playing it, so that i can play reverie

and the last dungeon cutscenes are great so far

i am really going to have to play all of cold steel back from 1 again at some point to truly understand cedric and shirley's arc

I think it's really good. The harem stuff always sucks but everything besides that I think struck the right balance of fanservice and good storytelling.

I just plowed into Reverie and hoped I didn't forget too much

I felt it stumbled a bit outside the Ouroboros stuff because that's always been a compelling mystery to me and they drop some interesting hints here. But I also feel Falcom wrote themselves into a corner with the curse stuff so I don't know if I ever would have been truly satisfied with its resolution.

i just got through the ourobouros stuff with campanella and bell

and it's really like, okay, i guess we're just the normal people

and there's a whole other level of thing going on

that we're not privy to

i'm glad what we do down here in the trenches is important to you, our gods of the much cooler high school

we're stuck in zemuria

but there are whole other worlds out there

aidios is just our god

mcburn came from outside the bubble

the salt pale was just "oh sometimes random shit from outside zemuria just lands here sometimes, what are we to do"

if you pretend sara is 29 and rean / all of class vii is 24 it's not as bad

according to the wiki she's only 27! (rean's only 20 though)

make sure you check out the true ending in cs4 as it is relevant in reverie

i am a huge legend of heroes trails fan but i loved all the cold steel games and definitely the sky and crossbell games as well. reverie was really phenomenal imo even if it is shorter than the cold steel games

juna should get to be the main character some time

all that curse / ishmelga stuff sure was a "show, don't tell" moment, huh?

kudos to old man osborne for not giving in i guess? cedric seems more redeemable than claire and lechter

if you like cold steel i def think you will like reverie. kurt and juna both but especially kurt get some early game character development and the new characters in reverie are excellent and quirky and fun while being compelling imo

also cedric is going in an interesting direction imo and he gets a much needed mini chapter in the post game of reverie that was really cool imo

this is p good as far as just as characters i definitely think gaius and elliot are the most lacking along with probably machias. in combat i really like elliot because his healing/regen craft is super useful, especially in early game. jusis has an op craft but i just rarely tend to use him for whatever reason. when i do my second playthrough of reverie after i replay the crossbell games i will probably focus on using characters i rarely used in the games my other playthroughs.

i definitely have rean/fie/laura top tier for combat and as characters, especially fie. i would have musse in the top tier also because her character arc is really good and interesting to me and i tend to use her in combat a lot. in reverie it is tough towards the end to pick a party because you have like 50 available characters and many of them can be really good and useful

oh yea i was just thinking based on character

yes but falcom will instead plunge us into hell and make tita/agate canon and ship renne with kuro's MC

You know I actually thought about this misinterpretation as I was posting that but just assumed no one would ever suggest such a horrific possibility.

Also tbh the real ship is Renne/Agnes (Kuro character) but Renne/Tita is still quite good.
