Wasn't that the show that a load of nerds were excited over as being the new Game of Thrones but then interest completely died because trailers showed that the CGI sucked and the costumes looked dumb?

I watched the first two episodes of the new season the other night with my wife.

She likes it, having never read the books. I read the books and some plot changes are confusing and disappointing, but some are interesting.

I'm kind of warming to the fact they are telling their own story vs being a straight adaptation. This season in particular is going way off book. There are scenes here and there, but the main stuff is fundamentally different.

Season 2 Episode 3 + book spoilers

Why the fuck did they kill off Uno? In the books, he survives even The Last Battle. He's integral to some plot developments, like when the girls are trying to get to Salidar and the whole Masema plotline. He was a huge backer of Rand and a badass as well

So from what I've read, and as someone who has been halfway through all the books for a while (but knows the story beats fro all of it) it seems like the second season is a lot better production wise, which I expected. But if you were pissed about the changes in Season 1 you'll probably continue to be pissed in Season 2.

I'm excited to give it a watch.
