There is definitely a bit of corniness in some parts but it's almost the perfect movie. Can't believe anyone rates 2 over it.

I just watched T2 again and am convinced that it's one of the most well-made movies ever. That said, I still prefer the grit of the original.

The scene where he busts into the police station and starts gunning down all the cops in the dark is so iconic. Arnold really should have done more villain roles

It's the art direction that makes it better than the 2nd for me. So many shots and sets that are great. The shot of the infiltrator's red eyes when Sarah is dreaming is one of my favorites in any movie.

Both T1 and T2 are so different that I can't choose between the two. One is more like a slasher movie, the other is straight up 90s sci-fi action

T1 felt to me like a carryover of the 70s scifi dystopian movies.

T2 was probably one of the best action movies of the 90s. Id for sure rate t2 higher personally, but t1 has a grittiness and feel that t2 just doesnt have.

T1 also had this element of being realized as a romance under the horror and action.

Both are great movies, but very different despite being of the same series. It should have ended at T2.

Call me crazy but that scene was absolutely necessary. Obviously it's the precursor to John's existence but it's meaningful because as Kyle points out, he doesn't know what love is because of the hell on earth he comes from, where every second he's thinking about how to survive. So that scene IMO was emotional and powerful and not a throwaway scene of people having sex just because. Honestly I can't even think of a sex scene in any movie that was as intricate to the plot and yet pure emotion.
