that was an interesting article. Had not heard that story at all. Did you side with barker or white on the elephant? There was also a link to cecil the lion that was hunted by that dentist that both barker and white detested.....none of you are ok with what happened to cecil, right?

I personally didn't have any opinion one way or the other regarding the elephant, but I totally sided with Betty as far as their feud went. Mostly I just remember as a huge game show fan that GSN's first and last annual game show awards was a huge train wreck from start to finish and Betty taking the high road by declining to attend because of Barker's threat that he wouldn't come if she'd be there elevated my opinion of her and soured my opinion of him.
And yeah, the Cecil the lion situation was just fucked up, no doubt about that.

I agree he was an awesome host and on-camera personality, but there's numerous stories about how much of a stuck-up jerk he was IRL. Like he literally called himself WGMC (World's Greatest Master of Ceremonies) and had that on a sign on his dressing room. One time Bob Eubanks hid the sign as a prank and Barker literally threw a fit and refused to tape until the sign was found. Contrast that with Drew Carey who was (at least for his first several seasons) a mediocre host at best but is humble to the point that he insists on being referred to as the "host" rather than the "star" and I've never heard anyone who had anything bad to say about him.

yeah seems like pretty much everybody is against lion hunts, like cecil's , but iirc they still allow those kinds of hunts in africa, though
