Currently on chapter X of the Hyzante route.

I finished this myself not too long ago. Overall it was pretty good.

Liked this game a lot, but I really disliked being locked out of certain story paths due to an arcane hidden point system. Generally I dislike games where you can't get the best ending on one playthrough (Nier being the exception)

You can get the golden route your first go around. I did.

That was the hardest chapter so far. Mfing Jerrom just has a death wish.

You can get the golden route your first go around. I did.

I was literally one choice away from it, myself, on a blind (i.e. no spoilers or guide) playthrough when it first released, and it was at the final set of choices you can make (Chapter 15) that ruined it, to boot. I'm still a little miffed that the choices that lead to the golden ending were what I would consider logical until that point, and then it's a crapshoot whether or not you pick the "right" choice at the end.

That being said, it was my favorite game of last year, and probably about as close to a 10/10 a game can get for me.

Honestly, I was pretty disappointed with the story.

Well, less the story itself, but the fact that no matter the decision, the paths will merge again instantly, with only the last one deciding the ending for 3 chapters or something like that.

I was more expecting some Tactics Ogre kind of plot.

Same. The problem is, that this decision is "logical" in hindsight, and if you didn't do it in a first blind run, you would usually check it out in NG+ for obvious reasons. I'm a bit more confused that you are allowed to surrender Roland in Chapter 7, avoiding the "don't use the traps" restriction if you protect him.

On another note, this is the first time since chapter 3 or 4 that the situation hasn't felt completely hopless.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? I had to argue my way into convincing my allies not to destroy the water source of the kingdom and flood the city.

Go play Ambition of the Slimes - it's adorably awful.

Same turn reinforcements are some of the greatest BULLSHIT on any strategy game.

It's fair to call the game boring. The battles are great but the story is pretty mediocre all things considered.

My one complaint with the story so far would be that the choices the characters make don't always align with the choices I make. And sometimes I wish you had more decisions to make.

For example, when you are named a saint, you should have the option to oversee the salt production and treat the Roselle more humanely. Not a perfect solution, but a fair compromise.

I hate how the only choice that makes sense to me makes rat ass Pattriate's words true...

lmao, I arrived at that conclusion before the route split.

My main issue with the game is that the mechanics really only opens up in NG+, but in NG+ the difficulty is stupid low so I die from boredom playing it. It sucks.

With some better NG+ balancing I would legit prefer it over Fire Emblem.

Also fuck Roland.

I'm done with the so called "Benedict route." I liked the ending. Frederica's plan was too idealistic; Roland's was just stupid.

I'll probably do the "Golden route" now to get all the characters.

Technically you need to do three playthroughs to get all characters. Either way, Benedict's route is the only one that isn't stupid as shit of the final choices.

Yeah, Benedict's was the only ending that I truly liked and thought made sense. I didn't feel too bad about missing the golden route when I saw it (mostly because it felt forced to me, like everything magically works out better than in the other routes because the writers said so).

Four. Chapter 15 is split into three routes but one of the routes shifts based on your choice in chapter 11, and all four of the potential routes come with a character unlock.
